Supporting Pregnant and Postnatal Students in General Yoga Classes with Lisa White

This brand new 3-week online course explores ways to integrate pregnant and postnatal students into general yoga classes safely and intelligently.

Would you like to feel confident in instructing pregnant or postnatal students who come to your general yoga classes by offering them appropriate modifications and pranayama practices? Then this 3-week online course is for you.

Pregnancy yoga expert Lisa White will accompany you throughout the 7 modules of this course exploring ways to integrate pregnant and postnatal students into your general yoga classes safely and intelligently, whilst ensuring non-pregnant students are still given a class that fulfills their needs.

The course is structured over 7 modules as follows and you will have 3 weeks to complete the training.

Module 1: Introduction and The Pregnant Body

Module 2: General Modifications for Asana and Pranayama

Module 3: Consider and Avoid plus The 3 Trimesters

Module 4: Common Ailments

Module 5: Example Classes and Creative Modifications

Module 6: Savasana for Pregnancy

Module 7: The Postnatal Period

In addition, you will get the chance to practice the modifications for yourself in Module 5 with two full-length classes involving both pregnant and non-pregnant students. The first is led by Lisa herself and the second by fellow Yogacampus teacher Zephyr Wildman

Each module is followed up with a quiz to help consolidate your learning as well as some open questions for you to reflect on.

At the end of this course you will be equipped with the necessary tools and modifications to adapt your pregnant students’ yoga practice in the context of a general yoga class. While this is not a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training, the content covered in this course will enable you to better understand the different stages of pregnancy including physical and hormonal changes that can impact your student’s yoga practice.

The course can be completed at your own pace within the 3 week period that it is running. We estimate 5 hours to complete the full course including the quizzes.
