Presence & Subtlety in Practice:
A Weekend of Yoga Workshops with Anna Ashby
“Live in fragments no longer. Only connect.”
-- E.M. Forster in Howard’s End
Brussels, Nov 25-26, 2017
Presence + subtlety in yoga practice require slowing down, softening and cultivating steady + clear perception at the heart of yoga. This means going beyond what is obvious, recognizing underlying patterns of holding + tension that interfere with the fullness of experience, and exploring ways to cultivate spaciousness + harmonious living whether in movement or stillness. While drawing upon essential teachings of the yoga tradition as well as personal insight, this weekend allows space to explore yoga practice as a means of integration + deep connection.
Saturday, Nov 25, 10.00 - 12.30p - Finding Centre: Where is it? What is it?
A workshop that explores the notion of centre and using awareness and felt experience to establish the basis for balanced action that flows with graceful presence. Covers a variety of poses including some standing poses, twists + forward bending; the workshop presents an approach based on breath, awareness and easeful effort.
All levels. 40 Euros
Saturday, Nov 25, 2.30 - 5.00 - Spaciousness: A Measure for Success
A workshop that explores how ‘spaciousness’ as a measure for success in practice transforms the experience of asana from effortful to effortless. Whether in the joints or in the frame of mind, finding the right ‘body-mind’ posture’ involves clear felt experience and discernment, both attributes of a mature yoga practitioner. Covers a variety of poses including some standing poses, twists + backbends; the workshop shifts perception from one of effort to actively creating space.
All levels. 40 Euros
Sunday, Nov 26, 10.00-1.00p - A Master Class for Teachers
A unique class for teachers that offers a supportive environment for going deeper in practice and non-competitive space to share and gain further inspiration for teaching. For teachers, teachers in training and experienced practitioners considering taking teacher training. 45 Euros
