Practice for Women: Yoga in Support of the Feminine Physique and Physiology

As Women, the great potential of our Yoga practice lies in honoring and respecting change in our bodies, and structuring our practices to reflect who we are in our lives. This is especially true as we go through normal transitions and the ageing process.

Be prepared to skillfully sustain your practice well into the later decades, through stabilizing the shoulder girdle, opening and strengthening the hips and pelvis, and learning how to navigate the waters of normal hormonal fluctuations.

Classes will include energizing and restorative asanas, rejuvenating pranayama, traditional chanting and meditative reflection. The workshop is suitable for all levels of students, from beginners through life-long practitioners.

The focus for these four classes:

Sat 10-12.30pm - Anatomical focus: Shoulder and Breast 

Sat 2.30-5pm - Anatomical focus: Hips and Ovaries 

Sun 10-12.30pm - Hormonal focus: The Menstrual years (including Pregnancy)

Sun 2.30-5pm - Hormonal focus: The Inward Journey of Menopause

Biography

Linda Spackman began practicing yoga in 1984 and began teaching in 2000. Linda's classes include asana, pranayama, Yoga Sutra and Vedic Chant. In each class, Linda strives to impart her joy and underlying reverence for all aspects of yoga. Her teaching style is accessible yet challenging for all levels of practice, from beginner to lifelong practitioner.

Linda is a devoted dedicated student of Sonia Nelson, with whom she has studied the Yoga Sutras, the Inner Limbs of Yoga, and Vedic Chant. Sonia is a senior student of TKV Desikachar. Linda also treasures the opportunity to study in the Iyengar tradition with Patricia Walden, and has done so since 2005. 

A longtime prenatal and postpartum teacher, she specializes in yoga for all phases of a woman’s life. She conducts the Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training Intensive, and co-teaches with Surya Little, the Yoga and Women’s Health Program for Prajna Yoga.
